The author came up with the idea for “Safety Zone” way back in 2011 during the Arab Springs. It was the time of heavy uprising. Thousands of people took to the streets to raise their voice against different social issues. In his book, Tomer Peled reflects on the protests that took place in Israel. He took hundreds of photographs that depict the anger, frustration, and desperation of the masses. Some of his snaps also reveal the intimate sides of protestors. A part of their lives are captured and immortalized in “Safety Zone – The history behind the camera”. By observing people and their motivations behind the desperate acts of protests, Tomer Peled came to understand something very important about human nature.
